Not all parasol bases are the same and nowadays they come in a variety of shapes and materials from a concrete or granite base to a steel base or lawn spike. If you prefer, you can choose a base barrel and ground tube so that you can position the parasol wherever you want it. If you get a lot of wind in your garden then you may want to go for a heavy, concrete parasol base, but if your outdoor space is sheltered from the wind then a lightweight stainless steel base might be a better choice.
